Q: Tell us a little bit about your company and how it is using innovative methods to solve urban challenges?
A: Xtelligent is using traffic signal control to improve the sustainability and livability of cities.
Q: What inspired you to start your company?
A: We realized that traffic signal technology, which sets the ground rules for how movement occurs in our cities, is still using a 100-year-old approach of using a simple timer. Upon recognizing that this antiquated approach results in not only significant urban mobility inefficiencies (i.e., congestion), but also massive environmental and social costs, we decided to tackle the problem.
Q: Tell us why you decided to apply to the URBAN-X Program? What were the key takeaways for your company during the program?
A: We decided to partner with the URBAN-X program because they are an ideal partner with a similar impact-driven mission and ecosystem of like-minded collaborators.
Q: What advice to you have for other startups and/ or inspiring entrepreneurs looking to reimagine urban life?
A: I would advise them to lead with listening ears, patience, and a genuine commitment towards positive impact.
