BMW of North America is the first premium automotive brand to partner with the Marine Corps and the Universal Technical Institute to provide on-base training and career opportunities for service members transitioning to civilian life.
A first of its kind, the Military Service Technician Education Program (MSTEP) launched at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in February 2018. In partnership with the Marine Corps and the Universal Technical Institute, the program features a 16-week specialized curriculum and hands-on training for military members who will soon be transitioning to civilian life and are interested in learning the advanced skills needed to be a BMW technician. Upon graduation from the program, BMW assists the new technicians with finding employment at BMW service centers across the country.
“BMW is honored to be working with the Marine Corps and helping provide service members with great professional opportunities to support their transition to civilian life,” said Bernard Kuhnt, President and CEO of BMW of North America. “The skillset these men and women will bring to our dealerships is invaluable. Aside from their unwavering team spirit and discipline, many are already highly specialized in some of the most sophisticated technologies, giving them all the right foundations for a successful automotive career. It is now our turn to serve them with MSTEP.” Learn More.
