BMW Talent and Training Programs

To ensure a pipeline of talented, educated individuals who possess the highly technical skills needed to manufacture and maintain some of the most advanced vehicles on the road, the BMW Group operates programs throughout the U.S. that provide hands-on training and increased career opportunities.

Beyond creating jobs, the BMW Group is committed to ensuring that local workforces have the skills and training necessary to maintain rewarding careers and compete on a global level. To that end, we provide educational and training opportunities for individuals both inside and outside the company to help unlock opportunity and open doors to a brighter future. In 2017, 637 individuals participated in the BMW Group’s talent and training programs.

The BMW Group’s Internship and Co-op programs allow undergraduate and graduate students to get full-time, hands on work experience at BMW Group facilities in the U.S. and abroad. Interns gain valuable project management, communication, and professional skills.

The Service Technician Education Program (STEP) is a 16-week course that provides students with hands-on training and promising career opportunities at BMW. STEP is free to all students who obtain employment with BMW upon completion of the program and provides graduates with a unique and highly marketable skill set.

The Engineering and Operations Management Development Program (EOM) consists of three eight-month assignments that give participants experience in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. EOM associates receive a multi-faceted training curriculum as well as coaching and mentoring throughout the program.

The Global Leader Development Program (GLDP) provides opportunity for dynamic professionals and graduates from multiple disciplines, including finance, IT, engineering, and production. GLDP participants complete four assignments, two domestically and two internationally, during this highly structured program. The program provides participants with increased exposure to varied projects and teams as well as opportunity to build a global network of contacts.
