
In August 2018, BMW i—the branch responsible for the design and manufacture of electric vehicles—signed an alliance with the United Nations Environment Program to promote the use of electric vehicles and other sustainable mobility solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. In accordance with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the goal is to transform the transport sector in this region with the use of clean technologies that also bring more benefits to the population.
The regional director of UN Environment in Latin America, Leo Heileman, is confident in the implementation of a new model of electric mobility, and our regional manager of BMW i in Latin America, Oliver Rosenthal, has committed to working with State entities to promote electric mobility technology. Together, the two organizations seek to share information and knowledge, promote dialogue with other stakeholders, and accelerate action on the national level in pilot countries and cities.
